SHOWMANSHIP – (10 Points)
- Evidence of performance planning: Was there any demonstration of music dynamics, costumes, make-up, stage props, etc.?
- Appearance. Applies to both dress/style and physical movement/performance. Did the band show personality on stage? Did the band appear to enjoy what they were doing?
- Preparation. Did the band use their 15 minutes wisely?
CREATIVITY – (10 Points)
- Material. How unique did the songs sound? Did the songs fit the set?
- Theme. Was there a unifying theme or concept around which the set was formed?
- Improvisation. Did the band demonstrate any level of improvisational skill through audience interaction, powering through mistakes/technical difficulties, or their playing? (more important than musicianship, DID THEY HAVE FUN AND MAKE IT FUN FOR THE AUDIENCE?)
BADASSNESS – (10 Points)
- Confidence. Did they command the room?
- Attitude. Did the band’s on-stage attitude appear suitable for their performance/concept?
- Simply put, would you describe the band as “badasses”?
ATTENDANCE – (Unlimited Points)
- Points will be awarded based on number of attendees recorded to see each band. Attendees will be asked at the door which band they are supporting. (1 Point will be awarded for each attendee.)
FUNDRAISING – (Unlimited Points)
- 1 Point will be awarded for every $1.00 raised. The $5.00 cover charge at the door will go towards this total.
- Bands can encourage people to donate online here.
- Businesses can support their band by raising donations through appeals to customers and/or other employees.
- Businesses are welcome to make a tax-deductible donation to support the efforts of their employee’s band and customers.
